Common Café Repair Issues
Café refrigerators share their platform with GE Profile models, and the most common calls we get in Buffalo are about the ice and water system: an ice maker that stops cycling, ice that comes out slowly or hollow, and a dispenser that pours a trickle. The usual causes are a water inlet valve that no longer opens fully, a frozen fill tube, a clogged filter, or an ice maker module that has stopped advancing. A refrigerator that runs warm while the freezer stays cold usually points to a defrost problem or a failed evaporator fan, which we test on the first visit. See refrigerator ice maker not working for the full diagnosis path.
Café ranges and wall ovens are built around electronic controls and precise temperature sensors. When an oven will not reach temperature, bakes unevenly or shows a fault code, we check the temperature sensor, the bake and broil elements or the oven igniter, the convection fan and the control board in that order. On induction ranges and cooktops, a single zone that stops heating or an element error code is usually a generator board or a zone sensor rather than the glass itself. See oven not heating and oven temperature inaccurate.
Café dishwashers most often come to us for standing water at the end of the cycle, dishes that are still wet, or a cycle that will not start. We clear or replace the drain pump, test the drain path to the disposer or air gap, check the heating element and vent for drying problems, and inspect the door latch and control for a dead start. See dishwasher not draining and dishwasher not drying.
Café microwaves, including over-the-range units and Advantium speed ovens, are repaired for a unit that runs but does not heat, sparking inside the cavity, a dead control panel or a door that will not latch. Because a microwave stores a high-voltage charge even when unplugged, these repairs belong with a technician rather than a DIY fix.
