Common Roper Repair Issues
Roper top-load washers share their platform with Whirlpool models, so the repairs are familiar: agitator dogs that no longer grip, a drive coupler or belt that lets the motor spin while the basket does not, a lid switch or lid lock that blocks the spin, a drain pump stopped by a sock, and a water inlet valve that fills slowly. See washer won't agitate and washer not spinning.
A Roper dryer that tumbles cold is a heating element, a thermal fuse that opened because of a restricted vent, a cycling thermostat or, on the gas models, an igniter or gas valve coil. Squealing and thumping come from drum rollers, the idler pulley or the belt. See dryer not heating and dryer taking too long.
Roper electric ranges from earlier years are repaired for a bake or broil element that has failed, a surface element or infinite switch that will not heat, and an oven that runs hot or cold because of its temperature sensor or control. See oven not heating.
Older Roper top-freezer refrigerators come to us for a warm fresh-food section, frost in the freezer and water under the drawers, which trace to the defrost timer or heater, the evaporator fan or a worn door gasket. When a replacement part for an older unit is no longer obtainable, we tell you before anything is ordered. See refrigerator not cooling.
